A Hand ley-Page service machine, with a crew of eight and a load of 24,8901b, covered 536 miles, visiting various points in England, and remaining in the air for 12 hours. TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT. VICKERS-VIMY PLANE PREPARES. NEW YORK, June 4. (Received June 5, at 10.35 a.m.) The ' New York Times'r' Pt. John's correspondent states that a Vickers-Yimy bombing plane, which -will attempt a Transatlantic night, has arrived, and the work of unloading it has begun under the direction of Piiot Alcock and Navigator Brown. The plane will occupy Hawker's hangar. It is believed that after a brief test the machine will be flown to the harbor near Capo Race, whence a start will bo made.
Alcock and Brown are members of the Royal Flying Corps, and were captured by the Germans during the war. They expect to be ready to make the flight before the Hand ley Page, winch is now making preparations. The Vimy plane is fitted out with twin 330 horse-power, eight cylinders, eagle Rolls-Royce engines, and carries 865 gallons of petrol. The plane has_ a speed of 90 miles an hour and a cruising range of 2,400 miles.
