He portrays Selfish Yates, the man who runs the sinful house in a naughty town known as Thirsty Centre. The supports arc very good, and include ‘ The Cook,’ a Fatty Arbuclde comedy. HAYWARDS 7 * There was a successful matinee for the children at Haywards’ to-day. This evening the leading attraction will be ‘ The Studio Girl,’ a Select production, f}arring Constenco Taluxadge. In this most piquant of ail her plays Connie given the gossips the chance of their lifetime to say nasty things about her. This picture ia supyiortod by a scenic, ‘ Fairlie to Mount Cook.' PLAZA. The charming picture ‘The Sln-,1 with Die Champagne Eyes.’ featuring Jewel Carmen, heads tho bill at tho Plaza. Nellio Proctor is ono of tho cleverest crooks in America. Whilst travelling on the boat she picks a man’s pocket, and, when just about- caught, she puts tho blame on to another man by placing the pocket book at his feet. Ho picks it up, and is looking at it, when ho is arrested for thieving. Ho,is sent to prison, but Milligan, tho chief of the crooks, organises his escape. Everything ends happily. A comedy entitled ‘Wild Women and Tamo Lions ’ will be screened also. EVERYBODY'S. There is a novel plot, in ‘ Tinsel,’ the World drama featuring Kitty Gordon which is now showing at Everybody’s. A mother who knows tho work), and especially mankind at its worst, believes that it is wise that her daughter should not grow up blind through ignorance. There is a good supporting programme. QUEEN’S. Tho Turn of the Wheel,’ aGoldwyn release, with Geraldine Farrar in the lead, ia proving a popular attraction at the Queen’s. It is a virile story of a man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo, and a woman who gave him the money to do it. Episode 7of ‘ The- House of Hate ’is on the supplementary list. our Allies, port chalmers. Out Allies Theatre, Port Chalmers, has an excellent attraction for to-night, when Bessie Barrisoale will be seen in ‘ The Cast-off,’ a powerful photo-play which shows how a man played fast and loose with the love, of an innocent girl and how -she avenged -herself in the end. At the dinner table she made the dramatic announcement that shattered his dream of even conquering her. It is a- story with a tense appeal. A further episode "of the serial ‘ The Double Gross ’ and special music will be -additional features.
