The Press Bureau _ announces the publication by the Foreign of a note communicated to General AUenoy on April 22 by the United States Minister at Cairo, announcing that Mr Wilson recognises tho British protectorate over Egypt proclaimed in December, 1914. The President reserves for further discussion details of the recognition, along with the question of the modification of any Amei’ican rights which the decision may entail. President Wilson and the American people have every sympathy with the legitimate aspirations of the Egyptian people for a further measure of selfgovernment, but view' with regret any effort to obtain its realisation by resort to violence.
