THE MINING INDUSTRY
[Per. United Press Association.] HOKITIKA, May 1. Following the announcement ot tho Minister of Mines of his intention to put forward fresh proposals fto revive the mining industry, the Westland County Council have convened a Westland county conference for May 14 and 15, to consider the suggestion to foster and develop the gold mining industry in Westland. The Hon. W. JJ. >S. MacDouald has accepted an invitation to attend the conference, and he will be accompanied on his visit to the Coast by Mr I. E. Seddon, M.P. There is considerable local interest in the coming conference, and delegates will be present from all parts of the district to discuss various proposals with tho Minister. In addition to attending the conference, the Minister will bo asked to visit a newgold field near Lake Kanieri and the Cedar Creek reefs. The Ministerial visit is looked forward to with great interest, as auguring important mining developments in the immediate future.
