Instead of awarding prizes as a result of last vear's work, tho dux medals won by Dorothv Boyd and Fred WGeorge being cjccptcd, the committee of this school decided to give pupils a picnic. Arrangements culminated in about 000 happy boys ! and girl:-, accompanied by members, of i committee, teachers, and parents leaving j the wharf last Friday morning by the Waiikana for Company Bay, Hinkjey’s Paddock I being their destination. Yo .pains had I been' soared by those concerned to make I the event a success. The -weather condij lions were ideal, and all,'-united to give ! the children a thoroughly .enjoyable outling. Owing larff-ly to' the active part ' taken by members ,of .committee and by I teachers* game.'; and ’■’•area were entered ! into with great zest; while the numerous | prizes awarded added considerably to the ; pleasure of the voting folk. Afternoon tea . ! foil..wed, and then came tho lollies, making M ; glad the hear; of young and old alike. 1 i Tin- homeward trip proved as enjoyable 1 las one could wish, and the day’s festivities i j ended with the usual cheers upon reaching Dunedin wharf safely. j
