Robert Henry Fisher was knocked down bv a motor car in Constable street, Wellington, yesterday, and died shoitlv alter his admission to the public hospital. The ‘ Oamaru Mail' reports that a serious accident occurred on Saturday at the railway crossing below Waiareka yards, Mrs jj Diver, of Knock!, was driving down into tiro valley to Cliclmcr street when the Tokarahi train struck the horse and trap, throwing out the occupants, killing the horse, and smashing the trap to a hopeless wreck. Mrs Diver was seriously injured, being badly cut and bruised, and her son, the other occupant of the trap, was also very much knocked about, but was able to ' walk. Both wero taken to the Oamaru Hospital. A Whaknlnnc telegram says; A settle;' in the Onouriao clisiii■•t, Fred Judge, aged about 40. was found in an exhausted ('audition in the bii-.k seat of his car, about a mile from his residence, at 1 o'clock this morning Ho was taken homo and put to bed. but expired shortly afterward;. Deceased attended the Opimako races yesterday, and a meeting of tho race stewardshist night. He leaves a wife and three children.
