NO STANDING IN THEATRES
WELLINGTON REGULATIONS
The question of overcrowding in theatres haa been investigated by the Wellington City Council. Some time ago the By-laws Committee recommended that the by-law which prohibited .people standing inside the theatre should be strictly enforced, and the council agreed. The matter was then reopened by representatives of the Showmen’s Association, who asked the same latitude in the future as they had been allowed in th© p&st. At tho *&st meeting of tho council the By-laws Committee reported that they had given further consideration to tho request of the Showmen’s Association that tho council should not strictly enforce tho provisions of the theatre by-law. and permit a limited number of persons to stand at the back of the picture theatre auditoriums. Some members of the committee had inspected the theatres in the city, and further reports had been obtained from the officers, and in view of all the information before the committee they could not recommend the council to depart from the decision previously arrived at. The report was adopted without further discussion.
