THE COURTS-TO-DAY
CITY POLICE COURT. (Before J. R. Bartholomew, Esq., S.M.) Remanded.—Janos Williams and William James Duncan, two youths, wore charged with breaking and entering the promises of Maedougall and Co. with intent to commit a crime, and were remanded until Wednesday. The Defence Act.—For failing to attend drill, Harold Linden MTvor was convicted and discharged. Maintenance. —Thomas J. Haggerty, charged with disobeying an order, v/as sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as he paid 30s a week. Committed for Trial.—Hugh M'Lcan was charged with, on the Bth inst., at South Dunedin, committing an indecent net, intending thereby to insult some person,—Mr Hay defended.—His Worship made an order clearing the court and prohibiting the publication of the details.— Evidence was given by Detective-sergeant Cameron, Plain-clothes Constable. Beer, and a married woman, after which accused reserved his defence, and was committed for trial, bail being allowed in bis own recognisance of £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each.
