EUSEBIUS TAKES ST. LEGER. The V.R.C. Autumn Meeting opened at Flemington on Saturday in fine but dull weather. The going was soft. In the Pines Hurdles the favorite, Percolator, lost his rider, G. Gail, who fractured his skull. A hot favorite, Eusebius, smothered the field in the straight in the St. Lcgcr, and won with a lot in hand. The winner incurs no extra weight for the Australian Cup, for which he has 8,2. In the Newmarket Handicap, J. O’Shea rode Hoprig. Molly’s Robe was always prominent, and won by a narrow margin from Sir Ibex, who came fast. Lingerie (N.Z.) finished fourteenth and Hoprig sixteenth.'" Molly’s Robe is owned in Queensland, and holds the Australasian record for 11 furlongs. Lisnavane won the Sires’ Produce Stakes brilliantly. She is a half-sister to Cetigne. Star Comedian had only an exercise gallop in the Esendon Stakes. Scornful, ridden by O’Shea, lost second place in the last furlong.
