JAPANESE QUELLING IT. SHANGHAI, March 13On the occasion o£ the funeral ceremonies of tha ex-Ernperor of Korea, a General outbreak of independence occurred throughout the peninsula. Strengthened bv the belief that the Pans Peace Conference had. sanctioned the independence of Korea, thocsand-s of Koreans paraded the streets and came into collision with the gendarmerie. Hundreds of arrests were made. _ Ihe 'disturbance continues m the provincial towns. Koreans are raiding tne police Stations, with the result of bloodshed on both sides. , , , Japanese reports estimate that at least 4,000 Koreans, mostly students, have been arrested. , The casualties are not announced. _ borne Japanese newspapers assert that mission Siies instigated the disturbances.
