UNION CLUB. The forty-seventh animal report states that the senior team had great difficulty in raising a team, and towards the end of file season it was found impossible to keep it going. The second grade team started well, but. constant drawing to fill vacancies in the senior team made it impossible on a number of Saturdays for engagements to be fulfilled. The third grade team flayed 11 matches; points for 161, against 5, finishing up as winner of the competition. The president’s team (composed of boys) were playing their first season in club football. During the season they showed very marked improvement. Training was almost wholly neglected, and it is recommended that a suitable hall be engaged this year. Tho committee recomtnend that the annual ball and smoke concert be reinstated. After meeting all liabilities the club have a fair balance to commence the season with. The following have been killed in action; —R. Harris, J, Mackenzie, E. M'Lennan, J. M'-Ahan, A. Burns, G. Henderson, P,. Define, 0. Struck, J. Armstrong, D. Ailken, EL Fogarty, R. Goyen, W. McLennan, J. MTntosh, W. Smith, J. A. B. Williams, W. Malcolm, F. J. Andrews, T. Dryden, G. dealer, F. Knox, W. M‘Kay, J. Men*iea, F. Pomeroy, D. Sutherland. _ A fine effort was made by the club during the war. In all, 163 members left New Zealand. Lieutenant R. Knox has been awarded the Military Cross, and Sergt. R. Fogarty and Corporal H. Armour have been granted the Military Medal. Sergeant Fogarty has also represented New Zealand in several games 1 in France and England. THE LEAGUE GAME. "HjO Hew South Wales Rugby League received a cable confirming the Northern Union’s proposal to send a team to Australia.
