A conference of local bodies’ delegate# met to-day to discuss the question of flood protection. Mr Malcolm, M.P., reported that he had hist received a telegram from Sir James Allen, which read: “I regret that Cabinet has not yet come |>o any decision about the appointment of on Engineering Commission.” It was decided to wire to the Government again urging the urgency of the matter. Tho meeting then adjourned sine die.
