CALEDONIAN CLUB. A special general meeting of the Caledonian Bowling Club, convened by the committee, was held last night to receive the resignation of the members of the executive. The resignations were tendered as a protest against the action of a recent general meeting in not endorsing a decision of the committee. There was a large attendance. Mr W. M'Leod was appointed chairman. / Mr G. Capstick moved, and Mr Rylance seconded —“That the resignations be not accepted.” Mr R. T. Wheeler said that it was regrettable that only two members of the executive were present. He considered that good work had been done by the committee, but having called a special meeting of the club the members of the executive should have attended it. Mr Hendry said that the members of the executive considered that they bad been “turned down” by the club, and therefore felt that they could not attend. Mr D. Smyth moved, and Mr Cowie seconded —“ That this meeting have 'every confidence in the executive, and that a committee of three be appointed to interview the members and ask them to reconsider their decision to resign.” The amendment was lost by 12 votes to 10.
A ballot was then taken on the motion, resulting in favor of the resignations being accepted. A motion that the meeting adjourn for a week to ascertain if the outgoing executive would agree to return to office was lost, and the election of office-bearers was proceeded with. The only nominations received were, those of the outgoing executive, and they were unanimously re-elected.
