BRITISH DEVELOPMENTS. HOVERING PLANE EXPERIMENTS. : Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, March 12. The Air Estimates for the year are £66,*500,000. The personnel will bo reduced from 150,(XX) to 79,570. (Received March 13, at 8.30 a.m.) Though ’ details are not available, it is understood that the Air, Estimates allow only a small amount for civil aviation. There are some protests against the Air Ministry's slowness to devote adequate attention to the civil branch. It is reported that experiments made on the helicopter aeroplane, enabling a machine to rise vertically and hover in the air, offer some prospects of success.
