At Saturday’s sitting at Christchurch of the Methodist Synod several- recommendations from the Taranaki-Wanganui Synod regarding work amongst returned and returning soldiers were approved. These recommendations urged that everything possible should he done by the Church mem-vpr-g f p, the men a suitable welcome home, that all allowance be made for the r -vous condition of many of the men, and that efforts he made to coilnteract pernicious social influences. It was resolved to keep on touch with the Returned Soldiers’ Association. The Board of the Oonnesional Fire Insurance reported another year of successful business. The total loss by fire had been onK- £9 10a and this was fully covered by reinsurance.
