'The soloist for Coleridge-Taylors ' A Tale of Old Japan ' are Mrs John Rriisor, of Oa-maru. soprano : Miss Alrnu Lcfovrn, of Palmerstou, alto ; Mr C. C. Scott., tenor; and Mr JI. P. Desmoulins, baritone;. These singers put in two hours' hard vrnrk on Saturday afternoon vritli the conductor and accompanist, and not loss time with tV«J orchestra at night. There should be no doubt of their gie.at success when the work is given in His .Majesty's Theatre on October 26. Airs Frasar also sang a song ■with full orchestral accompaniment. Sh.-i complimented (he orchestra on thsir sight reading and feeling.
