JOHANNESBURG, September 23-
The President of the Chamber of Mine* referred to the serious position of tha Transvaal gold industry. Of 49 contributing minoa, sis were working at an actual loss, and 15 at a small profit, whioh, however, standing charges turned into a loss. Under existing conditions tho end was very near. It would be a pity ff the closing of some mines was required to bring home the real ixisition.
