AT QUEEN'S AND KING EDWARD THEATRES. For the new series of pictures released for the lii'st time to-day at tho Queen's and King Edward Picture Theatres, a Vitagiaph 5-reel drama entitled 'His Own People' heads tho list. Tho story of this big picture tells of Hugh O'Donnell (Harry Morey), a blacksmith in lovo with Molly Gomvav (Gladys Leslie), who evinces her love for Hugli in mischievous pranks at his expense. Percival Cheltenham owns most of the village, and is disliked for his war on the peasantry who poach on his acres. Lord Pereival gives a great party at his manor, and among the guests is Lady Mary Thome (Betty Bluthe). Sho meets Hugh when she calls at- his shop to have a shoe of hen- horse _ sel. and impressed bv his rugged manliness, asks him to call, "for she Is bored by the men Tuests. Molly, overhearing the invitation, is piqued, and retaliates bv flirting with Pereival. Hugh finally decides to call on Lady Mary, and Molly, stealing up to the manor, sees him graciously received. As she stands outside the window Pereival comes upon her, and to escape his advances she. fieos to tho library in tho manor. He pursues her and locks himself in the room with her. That night there is a, fight between the poachers and Percival's gamekeepers, and a peasant is lulled. A band of enraged villagers leach cho -manor, bent on hanging Pereival, arriving just in time to save Mol.lv from harm at his hands. Hugh pacifies the mob by promising to turn Pereival over to the constable. Searcliino- the manor for his master, he breaks into the library, and finds Pereival with Mollv. Tho girl, in shame and terror, flees without attempting an explanation. That comes later when she goes in the night to Hugh's home and in his arms tells her story. ' The last chapter of the exciting_ serial 'The Double Cross' completes this excellent- programme.
