The Australian steamer Glauoua, which visited Dunedin several months ago, arrived at Auckland last evening from Surprise Island. The vessel brought a cargo of guano for discharge at the northern port. The Calm, which eailed .shortly after midnight last night with a large shipment of general cargo for Timara,, iiyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui, is due back here about October 4.

The auxiliary schoonor Fairburn was expected fco leave Auckland on Monday with a cargo of explosives for discharge at Wellington and Dunedin. Messrs Reese Bros.' steamer Opihi was despatched from Lytteiton on Monday afternoon with a shipment of general cargo for Vancouver. The John arrived at Lytteiton on Sunday last with a full cargo of timber from Nydia Bay. Tho vessel was expected to sail yesterday for Wangaaui direct. A meeting of tha Merchant Service Guild waa held on Monday morning at Wellington, when routine business was dealt with. At Wellington th© vessel will load a cargo of scrap iron for Dunedin, Last Monday was one of tho busiest days on the Lytteiton waterfront for several months past, there being 17 vessels at the wharves, each with cargo to discharge or load. This unusual volume of shipping created a shortage of labor, which, it was hoped, would be somewhat relieved yesterday. The barque Rothesay Bay, which discharged petrol and kevoseno at Timaru last week from San Francisco, left .the South Canterbury port on Saturday morning for Auckland to complete her discharge. The Corirma, having completed her survey at Port Chalmers, came up to Dunedin this morning and berthed at the Birch street wharf to load general cargo for w.\v ports and Now Plymouth. She will be despatched thie evening. Tho Manuka arrived at Lytteiton at 6 a.m. to-day from Wellington. She will sail this evening for Wellington, and will leavo tho latter port to-morrow night for Sydney and Hobart. The* Kini if? expected to leave Westport to-day with a cargo of coal for discharge at Timaru and Lytteiton. The Ivokiri is due at Onehunga to-day from Oroymouth. After discharge at the Manukau* port she will return to Greymouth to load for Napier. Tho Kaka.po left Wellington at 10 last nic;hi for Greymouth, where she will load coal again" for Wellington. Tho Kaituna arrived at Westport at 2 a.m. to-dav from Auckland. She is now loading a cargo of coal for Wellington. The' Kamoiia is doe at Wellington toduv from Westnort. After discharging her coal cargo she will load general cargo at Wellington for Auckland. Tho Karamu left Bluff yesterday afternoon with general cargo for Wellington. Fho will afterwards go to Westport to losd coal for New Plymouth.

Tho Rosamond is expected to leave Napier to-day fo.r Gi'borne to discharge the" balance of her produce cargo irom Tima/ru. She will afterwards proceed to Willing-ton and then to Lyttelton. Rain was falling at Greymoiith to-day, and a moderate sea was winning on the bar. We-stport reported that the weather was unsettled, with a smooth sea on the bar. The. Patflu is expected to leave.
