SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY

The Korth-east Valley Baptist Sunday School anniversary was celebrated on Sunday. The opening service was conducted bv" the pastor (Rev. S. Morns) in a full church. The talk to the children was on * The Compass.’ Important truths were drawn from its likeless to conscience, and the necessity of following its direction in order to go straight. The sermon was based on Mark is., 36, “He took a little child and set him in the midst.” At the afternoon service the Rev. Mr Morris gave a cheery talk on the forget-me-not flower, and used the words of the Psalmist: “ Forget not all His benefits,” to illustrate truths helpful to the young. In the evening, in spite of rain, the church was filled. Mr Morris again conducted’ the service, his text being Isaiah xxxix., 4, “What have they seen in Thy house?” Throughout the day the children sang suitable pieces with great credit under the baton of Mr A.' E. Ansell, and it is intended to have the children sing next Sunday also. The services will be continued in the Town Hall this evening.
