Fire _ broke out yesterday morning in the office of Messrs Rhodes, Ross, and Crodby (solicitors), at the corner of Manchester and Hereford streets, Christchurch. The fire brigade effected a remarkably good save from the destruction of the block. A good deal of damage was done by smoke and water to several offices in the building, a valuable law library in Mr A. E. G. Rhodes’s office suffering considerably. The building is owned bv Mr A. E. G. Rhodes and Mr R. M. Mac Donald, and is insured in the London and Lancashire office for £3,500, and in the Alliance office for £3,500. Mrs Haw’kins: “ Can’t you do anything with these boots?” Bootmaker; “No, too far gone.” Mrs Hawkins; “What yer mean? You call your boot shop a hospital, don’t yer?” Bootmaker: I h-'t’s right, but it ain’t a blinkin’ mortuary.” “KLEAN-ITT” REMOVES GRIT AND GREASE FROM HANDS. Blacksmiths’ bands, mechanics’ hands, motorists’ hands. No matter how blacker oily “ Klean-itt ” will clean them as it by magic. Gats into the pores, dislodges the dirt, leaves the hands clean, fresh, cool.—[Advt.J
