DUNEDIN CRICKET CLUB

Tho Dunedin Cricket Club held their annual meeting last evening. Mr G. A. Wycherley (vice-president) was in tho chair. Tho Chairman, in movftig the adoption of tho annual report and balance-sheet, referred to the great loss the club had sustained by the death of Mr T. S. Graham, who had for something like 24 years been their honored president. Feeling reference was also made to tho death in action of Mr T. J. Biyden, one of the vice-presidents. Mr Wycherley, continuing, said that in tho interests of the club and of cricket generally it had been considered advisable to make an effort to resume activities and to place at least one team on the field, promises of support had been received, and this material would in all probability be augmented by other players who would join up when they knew of the. club’s intention. He considered that the Caledonian Society deserved the sincere thanks of the members for the generous manner in which they had met them, thus making it possible for the club to resume operations. Good wickets were assured, and there was no reason why a very enjoyable «ww*on obould not be experienced. Mr J. Wilkie seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr E. S. Wilson moved and Mr 0. Eyre seconded—“ That this annua] meeting of the Dunedin Cricket Club express their deep regret at the death of their friend and president, Mr T. S. Graham, and their sense of gratitude for the many acts of kindness shown by him towards the club during hi? long term of office.” This was carried, members standing in silence for a few moments in token of respect for the memory of Mr Graham. The election of office-bearers resulted aa follows : —President. Major W. Fleming; vice-presidents —Messrs hj. S. Wilson, M. Kilroy, J. B, Nicbol, G. A. Wycherley, A. Johnson ; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr W. W. Mackersy; committee— Messrs 0. Eyre, D. Wilkie,_ and J. MTarlane, with the president, vice-presidents, and secretary as ex officio members; delegate to O.tA-, Mr G. A. Wycherley j sole selector, Mr W. W. Mackersy. It was resolved that the subscription for the coming season be £1 Is. The Chamnan moved and Mr M‘KaJ seconded —“That this meeting of the Dunedin Cricket Club desire to express their appreciation of the self-sacrificing sendees being rendered by their fellow-membe*a who are fighting at the front, and their deep commiseration with the relatives o£ those other members who have given lives in tho cause of Freedom," The motion was canbw* -/
