BRITISH POLITICS.
LLOYD GEORGE'S "LIBERALISM" BAIT TO MR ASQUITH. NORT.HCLIFE TRAIL AGAIN. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, July 9. (Received July 10, at 12.10 p.m.) There are many rumors in political circles that Mr Lloyd George and Mr Bo'nar Law have approached Mr Asquith and suggested that* he should become the Leader of the Hoi.se of Commons, and thrs definitely attach himself to the Coalition, otherwise Government candidates will oppose Mr Asquith's candidates at the next General Election. This, combined with the opposition of the Laborites, would probably result in the virtual extinction of Liberalism, in the event of Mr Asquith'a acceptance, in view of the fact that he holds the key of the Liberal funds, and Mr Lloyd George would bo confirmed in his leadership. Tlio political position is one of extreme piquancy, in view of the circumstances in which Mr Asquith. left offire and of the 'Daily News's' continual Attacks on Mr Lloyd George. The position is complicated by the fact that the Xorthcliffe newspapers, referring to the new rumors, intimate that they will oppose the Government if Mr Asquith is allowed to re-enter it.
