GAELIC SOCIETY
The Gaelic Society held their monthly meeting last evening. The chief (Mr D. M'Pherson) presided, and was supported by Chieftain Kenneth Cameron. The programme was well arranged, and a most entertaining evening was spent. The following friends of the society contributed to the evening's entertainment :—Mrs M'Donald, ' Jessie's Dream '; Mr McDonald, Gaelic song, 'Anno a Gleanni an robh me og'j Miss Eeddell danced a seanntriubhais and Highland reel; Mrs Black, ' 0 Sing to Me the Auld Scotch Sangs' and ' Coming Through the Rye '; Mr Brookman, ' It's a Long, Long Way Back to Ireland '; a duet, ' The Hunting Tower,' was tastefully rendered by Mr Brookman and Mrs M'Donald; Mrs Ward, 'The Sea is England's Strength and Glory '; Mr J. D. Cameron. ' Land of the Long Ago' and ' When I Leave the World Behind '; Miss M'Lachlan sang ' I am so Happy ' and ' Where are the New Zealand Boys To-night?'; Miss Lester, 'Bonnie Charlie'; Chieftain Kenneth Cameron, a Gaelic song, ' Muile nam Mer-bheann.' Mr Allister played tho pipes and Miss Reeve the accompaniments, and Mr Alex. M'Kenzie acted as master of ceremonies.
