_ Mr H. R. Petrie, accountant, in the Greymouth branch of the Nalional Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., has been appointed manager at Outram branch.. Prior to leaving Greymouth lie was entertained by a large number of friends and business people, and presented with a gold albort. Mr Petrie is a brother of .Mr J. W. Petrie, manager of the National Bank at Milton. The Rev. A. L. Canter, of St. Michael's. Verco, who for several years has been the preacher of the Church of Christ at Doncnster, has resigned the work there (says the Melbourne ' Herald '), and will shortly leave for Mataura, New' Zealand. After 51 years' service Mr A. Stcdmau has retired from the- position of manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Cimstchurch. At the Chamber of Commerce the other day tlw>< business men .?f Christehurch assembled and presented Mr Stedman with a solid silver salver as a small token of their esteem. Mr St-ed-rnan's successor is Mr G. A. R. Mackay."
