BUMS CLUB

The monthly meeting of the Burns !iiib, held in the Art Gallery last evenag, was as usual a very successful unction. There was a large attendance, md the arrangements were very complete. • The Chairman (Mr W. B. M'Ewan) stated that he had received from the Soldiers " and Sailora' Help Society of Edinburgh a' letter expressing appreciation of the donation of £l6 4s, which had been forwarded by the club to )ssiefc the society in their work of Securing employment for disabled soldiers and sailors. The anniversary gathering last month had proved highly successful, and had yielded a handsome .profit—considering thq times. The club had also lent assistance to tie effort of the Salvation Army on " Flag Pay," and he -wished to thank the ladies in <&axge of the stall, at which £l7 18s " iad been taken. The speaker made sympathetic reference to-- the death of Mr Crerar, a late member of the choir, also io _the death. 1 of _Dr Bedford, who had resisted the club in the past.
