'CANARY COTTAGE.' The season of tho New .Musical Comedy t ompany is proving one of the most successful ventures from the treasury viewpoint of the many organisations that the farm ot J C. Williamson, Ltd., have sent to Dunedm. Last evening when the final representation of 'Canary Cottage' was Riven there was a very large and delighted audience. 'SO LONG, LETTY.' - , company will revive the delightfully tuneful and very humorous comic opera • So Long, Lotto-,' which ranks amongst the most successful musical plays staged during the present century. Special importance attaches to to-nicht's representation, because it will- signalise the second last .appearance hero of Miss Connie Ediss, who will leavo shortly for England and America It was in 'So Long, Lettv,' that Miss Ldiss first delighted playgoers of Australasia, and her ardent admirers declare that this very talented comedienne has never given u 3 a better- .all-round characterisation than that of Grace Miller. Miss Ediss'f rendering of the famous number, 'Here Conic- the Married Men,' is quite an entertainment on its own. In it she is assisted by a brilliant, clever dance, in which the. ballet attached to the present organisation 'have everywhere created a furors of enthusiasm. 'Miss Maud Fane will appear in the title role, which was formerly portrayed here by Miss Dorothy Brunton. The music allotted this part should" present Miss Fane's voice at its best. Mr Field Fisher will again be seen in his refreshing interpretation of the part of Harry Miller, and Mr Alfred Fnth/s very eccentric and very clever performance of tho whimsical surf bather still lives in the memories of those who enjoyed it when ' Letty' was played here last year. A feature of the opera is the dancing of Miss Madge Elliott, Jack Hoc-leer, and Tommy Preston. Tho dresses, scenery, lighting, and appointments will be on tho same lavish scale which marked the previous representation of the piece. ' THE ONLY GIRL.' Quite the most important theatrical event which has yet happened in Dunedin will be the production to-morrow night of the latest London and New York musical comedy success, "Die Only Girl.' This will mark the first occasion on which an important opera, has been presented to playgoers of Dunedin prior to its passing the critics of. -Australia. The music of ' The Only Girl' is, it is said, exceedingly pretty, the dialogue is clever, the situations whimsical, and the story is both interesting and entertaining. 'The fulldToss rehearsal, which took place vesterday under tho f supervision of Mr Harry Burcher, the London and New York producer, passed off without a hitch, and it is anticipated that the new piece will rank with tho best musical plays staged during the present generation.
