SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE DISSATISFIED.
At a general meeting of the Second Division League at Wellington last night a resolution was passed—"That this meeting of members of the Second Division League emphatically protest against the action of the Financial Assistance Board in rescinding the grants of financial assistance on the ground that separation allowances have been increased, and call upon the -Minister of Defence to take immediate steps to protect the interests of our soldiers on service and their dependents by instructing the board to take no furtheraction along these lines, and by reinstating such grants as may already have been cancelled." It was also resolved—" That this meeting of the Second Division reservists strongly contend that the present scale of separation allowances is quite inadequate to secure the preservation of the homes of our soldiers, and urge upon the Government the necessity of reopening this matter immediately upon the reassembling of Parliament, with a view to increasing the allowances to wives and children and making adequate provision for widowed mothers."
