MR GERARD'S FUTURE.
Tlie New Yovk correspondent of the 'Central News,' writing in November last, said: "Mr James W. Gerard, former United States Ambassador to Germany, is to return to law practice in the firm of Bower and Sands. 46 Cedar street, his former partners. A report to this effect is confirmed by Mr Gerard himself. ' Yes. it is true that I am to re-enter the firm of Bower and Sands,' he said ; • but not until eorne time in Dec-ember.' Tt is nine years since Mr Gerard left' the law firm to become a Justice of the Supreme CVAirt of the State. He remained on the bench until his. appointment as Ambassador to Germany. Since his return from Germany be has been kept busy .with his book and his lectures and speeches before various societies and organisations. Mt Gerard is 56 years old."
