The town'as a body had not jet shown practical appreciation of that organisation. The Salvation Army had done good work, and there was also the proposal to erect a soldiers' memorial club in Dunedin. They hacfTnSt there to consider what should be done. Several speakers emphasised the good work done by the Y.M.C.A., and-the Salvation Army's claim to assistance was also acknowledged. The discussion resulted in the passing of a resolution, moved by Mr Mawson and seconded by Miss Mill—" That efforts for raising funds be directed m the first instance for the benefit of the Y.M.C.A." The meeting further Tesolved that a committee consisting of Messrs J. Stevenson, J. M'Lachlan, W. Wilson, the Women's Patriotic Committee, and the Red Cross Committee be empowered to canvass for subscriptions, the Mayor to be the convener of the committee. In reply to a question, His Worship said he knew that many of those concerned in Y.M.C.A. woTk gave voluntary service, arid ho did not know of any officers receiving high salaries, but he would ascertain whether such was the case. \
