KING'S SPECIAL PRAISE. SYDNEY, February 13. Sir Walter E. Davidson, the new* Governor of New South Wales, in acknowledging his official welcome to-day, delivered a message from His Majesty the King appreciative of Australia's part in the war. Sir W. E. Davidson added that the King remarked, in referring to the gallantry of the Australian troops, that Hie greatest number of Victoria Crosses, in proportion to the number of troops -engaged, was won by the Commonwealth of Australia and the Dominion of New Zealand, which were coupled for the purpose.
