The town of San Joso, which is ouo of the- principal' vine-growing .centres of bouthern California, went "•dry" on November 6 by a, majority of 1,547, and as a result 78 sailoons closed their doors on December 31 last. At Wellington yesterday Harry' Lewis, who stowed away, on a steamer bound for an Australian port, was, filled £lo' for leaving &S Dominion without- a nermit.
