Sir Jarr.es Allen to-day stated, regarding the escape of the prisoners from Motuihi, that the report of the Court of Inquiry had .been carefully considered by Cabinet, and, it had been decided to set up a court martial for the trial of Lieutenant-colonel Turner. As Colonel Paiterson and Major Osborne Lily were not present throughout the inquiry, it becomes necessary to hold a further inquiry, in order that they may* be present and place their case before the Court. Subsequent action will depend on the report of the Court. From the report of‘the Court General Robin is the only other officer concerned and the extent of his responsibility is under consideration.
