Another excellent programme is promised by the Dunedin Choral Society for their third concert of the 1917 season. This will be given in His Majesty's Theatre on Thursday. November 3. The items include Sir Arthur Sullivan's last finished work, the ' Te Deum Laudamus.' This author's name is alwavs associated with tho tune 'St Gertrude.' to which 'Onward, Christian Soldiers' is sung. This tunc is cleverly worked into the accompanisemcnt for orchestra and band, w £ lch _, Slr Arthur has written for the To Deum.' Elgar's 'For the Fallen,' a tribute to the memory of the soldiers who have fallen in battle, will also be included. This is written for soprano solo, chorus,-and orchestra. One of the society s orchestra has ' written for and presented to the society 'A Cuckoo Madrigal. The writer (Mr Brvant Williams) has based his theme on the oldest piece of part music known, this a composition by John of Forsent. an English monk of the thirteenth century A piece by a New Zealand composer for alto soloist, chorus, and orchestra will also be given. It is quite new. Mr Wolf has specially written the band parts
