A MOST UNWARRANTED STATEMENT.

TO THE EDITOR deputation from the employees; of our clothing factory waited upon ma this morning with a cutting from youi last night's paper, and pointed to tbi letter signed by " Well-wisher" under tbfl above heading. They asked me to ap« proach you, with a view of protesting through your columns against the remark! made by Dr Doris Gordon at the reoent meeting held in Burns Hall. I think it H most unfortunate and totally onwarranted that some people should try through the papers to damage the good name of the girls who have to work in faotories, etc.. for their living. To state that "all had their price " is, to my mind, a cruel am! libellous statement. I quite approve of the deputation's in» dignation that such a slur should be*casi upon them and their fellow-workers, ana to let you know their feelings in th« matter I am sending them to you with this protest, so that you can judge foi yourself the present state of their feelings, . I'am, etc., • C.S.S., On behalf of Sargood*a Factory. August 29.
