MINING.
The return from the Olrig dredge la* I week was 7oz WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. The Wsihi Grand Junction G.M. Company, during the period ended Auaust 1.1 last, crushed and treated 9,720 tons of ore for a it-turn of bullion valued al £17,283 Compared with the return for the coire=poii('inrr period of last year, when 10.080 tens yielded £16,504, this shows an increase of £778. The total amount won from the mine to date i> £1.564,624. The following information was contained in a- cablegram sent last Thursday to the London office of the comp:uiv :—" In the drive east the average value for a width of 60in is £1 3s 9d pet ton. In the drive ivo.-t the average value for a width of 60in is 17s per ton. Royal Lode: In the west drive the average- vahu for a width of 51in is lis 5d per ton. Cross-cut at 30ft: The lode is 108 m wide .assaying 18s. In the east drive the aver age Value for a width of 57in is £1 lis 5d per ton."
