FLOWER SHOW

Tho flower show under the auspices of the First Church Young Women’s Club opened Ik the Burns Hall yesterday afternoon, and was continued in the evening, when, in spite of the inclement weather, there was a fair attendance. In the evening Mr D. gave a practical address on ‘ Vegetable Growing in Cottage Gardens,’ in which he imparted useful information as to tho treatment of tho soil and the rotation of vegetables. Tho following completes the prize-list:— Decorative work.—Decorated bow!— Hiss M. Allan 1, Miss L. Melville 2 and h.c.; bowl of other flowers—Mies Jessie Brown 1; decorated vase—Miss Thomson 1, Miss Permin 2 and h.c.; gentlemen’s vase—Mr W. H. Adams 1, Mr A. H. William 2; decorated vase of single chrysanthemums—Miss M. Allan 1, Miss J. Melville 2 and h.e.; vase of single chrysanthemums—Miss Holmes 1, Miss Crow 2. Four chrysanthemums.—Mr B. Sunderland 1, Mr W. Smith 2. -Junior section (over 14 years).—Decorated vase—lsabel Sunderland 1, May Armstrong 2; lady’s spray—Roberta Simpson 1, Isabel Sunderland 2; gentleman’s buttonhole—W. Bealh 1, Isabel Sunderland 2. Junior section (under 14 years).—Ladv’; spray—G. Beach 1 and 2; buttonhole—G. Beath 1, Thelma Simpson 2.
