In the Balclutha. Court, on Faturdav five farmers were charged with failing to take steps to destroy rabbits on their respective properties. Convictions were recorded in rul 1 rhe cases, and fines ra.ngmg np to £7. with costs, were imposed. The principal plea, for the defence was the difficulty in obtaining labor, but the Magistrate was of the opinion that it was not impossible to obtain adequate labor. He said he had no sympathy wit.li the farmers who were making great profits as a result of the war. A hid named Clifford Wright found a mushroom at Wnirongoa Springs voslmlav which weighed 11b 15oz.
