ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
A YOUTH DROWNED. A Wellington P.A. message states that a, boating fatality occurred at Evan's Bay yesterday, when Clarence Dawson (19) was drowned. Dawson was out sailing a 14ft boat. When trying to adjust the maitipail tho halyards bru'ke. and Dawson fell overboard and . was drowned. The body was recovered. It is believed i that the deceased was an engine cleaner ' employed by tho Railway Department. Alexander Rfraehan (47), -unmarried, was found dead, hanging U\ his brother's woolshed near Rakaia. Tho deceased was the youngest son of the late Mr Stracban, a, well-known Otaao farmer. He was in Rakaia on a few days' holiday. A motor <:ar. driven by Mrs T Ritchie, of Cannmgton, containing five children : and a nurse,, overturned on a bank of tho hill leading into Cave. Tho occupants received a sever© shaking and minor injuries, and the car was damaged.—Tnnarit' telegram.
