EOME, August 18. General Pittaluga was severely wounded by a sniper at Gorizia.
RECRUITING DEMONSTRATION TO-NIGHT.
Tha chairman of the Recruiting Committee writes : Last night the wet .weather prevented the holding of the" recruiting meeting arranged for the Town Hall steps! It was unfortunate that this should have happened this week, when wo have so many of our ."boys" visiting its, and when relatives and friends from the country ar* in the City. This is the first occasion during the past 21 months that the Recruiting Committee have been at work that a meeting has had to be abanaoned on account of bad weather. However, to-night another opportunity will be afforded for those anxious or caring to hear the position explained.. Last night's intended enthusiasm will supplement that of to-night, and a real firing demonstration should result. Needless "to say, any active efforts in voluntary recruiting must now soon cease. The Rev. S. G. Griffith and Mr J. Inglis Wright will address the meeting to-night, and as both are good platform speakers they will be sure of a big audience. Cr R. S. Black will act as chairman, and the music will bo rendered by the National 'Reserve Band. COMFORTS FOR THE TROOPS.
