THE KING'S THEATRE
MARY PICKFORD. An interesting picture character creation will be screened at the King's Theatre tomorrow. It is entitled 'Madame Butterfly,' featuring Mary Pickford, one of tlio mos'l popular of screen artistes. 'Madame Butterfly ' is a pielurisafion of John Luther Long's well-known and emotional work, in which every detail has been attended to in order to ensure that the picture shall be presented in an adequate manner. The story is almost too well known to need mention. It has boon written as a novel, as a play, and as an opera, and its sentiment has been watered by almost, as many tears as have been shed over 'Camille' and 'East Lynne.' Mary Pickford is said to shine especially, in the tragic parts—when she learns of Pinkcrton's dunlicity and when she is parting with her baby. Marshal Neilan is reported to make an ideal Pinkerton. He is well known as a handsome youth, and takes the part of the thoughtless American naval lieutenant remarkably well. By no means the least among the actors is the Japanese baby, which takes the part of Cho-Cho San's little son. The charm of the picture is claimed to be the series of settings in which the action takes place. All the quaint beauty of Japanese gardens and Japanese flowers and Japanese architecture is depicted in pictures which have been photographed with artistic lighting effects. The interiors, too, command admiration, and the scenes of Japanese life and ceremonial are picturesque and interesting. A feature of the entertainment will be the orchestra, who will play Japanese operatic selections. The picture, "which is a Famous Players production in five acts, will bo supported by several unique and interesting pictures. 'Madame Butterfly' will be screened at the King's Theatre, commencing to-morrow at 2.30, and in the evening at 6.30 continuously at popular prices.
