WHERE ARE OUR BANDS?
TO THE PVUTOR. Sir,—Three school bauds and tho Salvation Army Band turned out last night- and welcomed to our city the gallant lads that are shortly to leave for tho front. But- what of the nine or ten other bands who were conspicuous by -their absence? I understand they ;ire subsidised by the corporation, and also arc never backward in calling on the public when short of funds. Who is responsible for last night's poor supply of music? If, it the-Mayor, the military authorities, or the bands themselves? No wonder our fair city is called Sleepy Dunedin.—l am, etc., " iloke Music. August 18.
