TAIERI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY
The annual meeting of tho above socic-iy was liclil yesterday. Mr E>. E. Grant presided, and 32 members were present. The annua', report, suited that, the Summer Show -was a, succefi?. Excluding donations to patriotic funds, and inekidin;* outstanding amounts, (ho accounts were, just about square. Had die usual collection been made in Dunrdin, there would. In tli3 ordinary course, have bc:n a considerable profit. The year opened with a membership of 174, and closed with 12G who had paid their subscriptions. Tho report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr J. Sutherland aivked to be relieved of liis duties on tho committee, and thus save an election, there being only one more nomination than was necessary to fill {be vacancies. Members, however, fe.lt that, although Mr Sutherland might leave /the district at an early data, bo should let his nomination remain, as he was a valuable member of committee,. Blair; auditors, Messrs J. A. M'Kinnon and W. J. J. Charters. A discussion took plac3 as to whether the show should be hold in November or January.—lt was eventually left to the committee to fix the date.
