TROTTING AT CHRISTCHURCH.
- TFnoja Oca Special Correspondent.] The track at Aldington was slow'yosterday. The totalisator handled £49,624, as against £31,206 on the corresponding day last year.. In the King George Handicap, the big event of the afternoon, Succeed, Frandocia, and Oinako were racing in 'close order at the end of half a mile, with Shorwood, Stanley's Child, and St. Kevin next. Going along the back Tommy C. began to improve his position, and six furlongs from home the leaders were St. Kevin, Oinako, and Eena Pointer, with Tommy C. next. Turning out of the straight Rena Pointer went to the front, and in the back stretch she was followed by Stanley's Child, Sherwood, and_Tommy C. Rounding the turn to the straight Stanley's Child and Sherwood ran past Rena Pointer, and in the run home the first-named drew away and 'won by two lengths from Sherwood, who was a similar distance in front of Rena Pointer, Tommy C, who was stopping over the last bit, was a head away fourth, and then after a big gap came Emilius at the head of the next bunch. Telegraph Handicap (harness), 160sovs. lm.—4 Sungod (12 yards behind) 1, 6 Prince Poole (12 yards behind) 2, 3 Soda (48 yards behind) 3. Thirteen others. Won by four lengths. Time, 2min 19|sec. Dash Handicap (saddle), 160sovs. lm. —9 Bacchus (scr) 1, 6 Simgod (12 yards behind scr) 2, 1 Wingattii (scr) 3. Twelve others. Won by four "lengths. Time, 2min 21sec.
BOXING. A Brisbane cable reports that "Les" D'Arcy (who has just enlisted) defeated "Dave" Smith in the 11th round for the heavy-weight championship.
FORBURY PARK TROTTING CLUB. The committee report : We started the 1915-16 season with a debit balance of £1,599 3s 6d, and after paying for improvements £475 2s, plant £7B 14s, donations to war funds, etc., £570 15s, ami increasing the stakes by £2lO, we close with a small debit of £179 9s Bd, and a liability of £250 loan money. The committee, for the purpose of encouraging the pure-gaited trotter, have decided to put on the summer programme a Trotting Derby, for three-year-old nnhoppled trotters in harness, for a stake of 250sovs, distance one mils and a-half.
