ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
The infant child of Mr P. S. Siieock, head master of the Glentunnel (Canterburr) School, mot its death under tragic circumstances yesterday afternoon. Mrs Siieock was giving the child its fcod in an old-fashioned feeding bottle, but left it to feed iteelf for a. minute or two. On returning she found the child dead, it having been suffocated. Daniel Henry Craig, 35, single, has been missing from his residence ~in Lin-wood (says the Christclrarch 'Press'). Craig had been suffering for some considerable time from a nerrous breakdown, which had of late been affecting his head. A few clave ago a licycb aiid a coat and waistcoat, which were identified as belonging to the musing man were found near the boat landin-r at Waitioni.
John Suffieid, 75 years of age, while crossing the railway line m-ar the Ashburton railway station at 8.30 this morning was struck bv a shunting engine and killed instantly. The deceased, who was verv deaf, apparently did not hear the eimin'o coming.—Pr-ess Association.
A Christ-church meseaee states that W. Paterson. who was Wild lying en the railway line near Belfast on Sunday lufferbig from injuries, died in the hospital to day. The deceased worked at Belfast as a carpenter.
