THE INFANTRY SHORTAGE.
The Recruiting Board are advised by the Defence authorities that returns up to Saturday last show tfcat the "infantry quota for the 14th Reinforcements for the Otago military district is 48 short for the No. 13. group with headquarters at Dunedin, 36 short for No. 14_ group with headquar-ters-at Invercargill, 28 short,for No; 15 group with headquarters at Oamaru, 20 short for No. .16 group with headquarters at Milton. The board are anxious for the 14th Reinforcements to go into camp at. full strength. There is an excess of men for all other branches of the service..
