AUTUMN, 1916.
This month marks an epoch in the drapery history of George street, Duncdin. Xob so long ago ib would have been thought litter folly to make even a semblance of the exhibition of West End costumes,, as is being displayed at Arthur Burnett's during this week. From a neutral's standpoint it must be admitted that the effort would do credit to any Australasian house. Its comprehensiveness is the more remarkable when you learn _ that this progressive firm is the juvenile of tho leading establishments of Dunedin. Apparently Arthur Burnett, Ltd., are- on i-afe ground, for the splendid array from the world's fashion stores is no surface one, nor a skimming off of the best. It merely indicates clearly what patrons rhay expect within. Strolling through tlio show room, one is amazed, at tho immense variety of costly garments arranged on tho tables and, in the show case 3. Another fine feature is the millinery salon. Its vast improvement from last year ia almost startling. Here yon find nothing ehoddy. Every hat is smart, and represents clearly a defined fashion from London or Paris. Some are severe, but in-all instances according to the latest files correct. In brief, the who]© display is particularly' creditable, and points to great possibilities for oiißaraetk-iAavt,!'- r ' ; A^;
