MO EWE AND WESTBURN. PIRATES' CHANGE OF QUARTERS. TENERIFFE, February 28. The Westburn left the “Moewe” on February 9. The prisoners were given the choice of landing at the Canaries or on an unknown island close to them. They were constantly threatened with bombs, with which tire prize ■ crew were armed. . The captain and two gunners of tlie Clan Mactavish were detained aboard the “ Moewe ” because they worked the liner's guns. They also kept the Lascar crew. The captain and the second officer of the Westburn were also kept on the “ Moewe” for making false nationality signals before the capture. While tlie Westburn was lyihg at Teneriffe the prisoners saw boats plying from other interned German vessels, and it is supposed that they removed the Appam’s gold, prize crews, munitions, and stores. A tug launch accompanied the Westburn seawards. The latter anchored threequarters of a mile off" shore, and sank in 45 minutes. The crew were taken off in the launch. They informed the authorities that the Westburn accidentally sank owing to bursting a boiler through the continuous use of salt water. '
