PICNICS
GROCERS. I The grocers' picnic at Mount Stuart on Saturday was highly successful, though | the sad accident at Waihola marred the ; pleasure of the picnickers. The president ; (Mr Russell), the secretary (Mr Henderson), and an energetic committee worked indefatigably to make the outing an enjoyable one for the 800 present. I | KEMPTHORNE, PROSSER, AND CO. j The employees of Kempthorne, Prosser, • and Co. held their annual picnic at Waij hola on Saturday. The party, to the ; number of close on 300, left bv train at I 9.10 a.m.. reaching Waihola "about 11 ! o'clock, where the committee had all arj rangements well in hand. The picnick- | ors, were supplied with abundance of good , things, such as tea, milk, sugar, cordials, | fruit, and lollies. During the day a good programme of sports was gone through. ! At the conclusion of the day the prizes | were presented to the winners by Mr G. |B. Smith (late' works manager), Mr i M'Ahan (chairman of the committee) com- | niented on, the good work done by the secretaries,-and on behalf of the committee thanked the donors of prizes, of which I there were.many, and mentioned that the
