INFANTILE PARALYSIS
THE AUCKLAND EPIDEMIC. A conference was held at Auckland on Saturday between the public health, officials and the chairman and secretary-of the Education Board relative to the question of closing the schools in consequence of the_ epidemic of infantile paralysis. No decision was reached, and the conference was continued to-day, when it was decided to close the pubilc. schools in the city and suburbs, and a number of the larger schools in the country for the next fortnight. Seven more cases were reported on Saturday and to-day, making a total of 289.
